Jason Pierce Presented at Merrimack Valley Estate Planning Council

On Wednesday, March 10, 2021, Business Valuation and Forensic Accounting Partner, Jason Pierce, virtually presented at the Merrimack Valley Estate Planning Council. His presentation was titled, ‘Estate Planning Best Practices with Cryptocurrencies & Digital Assets‘.

Attendees received an introduction into the mysterious world of cryptocurrencies/blockchain and how they affect estate planning. In addition to explaining the valuation of these complex assets, Jason discussed the taxation and risks encountered throughout the estate planning process. From fiduciary responsibilities and preserving the values during probate to safeguarding passwords (“wallets”) and DIY tax-preparation software, attendees learned key insights to navigate clients through these situations. Once viewed as a haven for criminals, this technology has gained wider acceptance through public company investment (Facebook, IBM, AB Inbev, etc.) and over $133 billion raised by Fintech in the past three years.

Jason is passionate about sharing his knowledge and is involved with multiple groups in which he presents thought leadership.
