Alfonso leads Edelstein & Company’s Client Accounting Solutions team. With over 20 years of public accounting experience, Alfonso specializes in assessing client’s financial workflow needs, cash flow management, and internal and external financial reporting needs. In addition, Alfonso can help evaluate internal controls and conducts fraud risk assessments.

As an experienced CPA, Alfonso knows the complexities of running a small business. His skillset will help businesses maximize efficiencies and profitability. Alfonso is also a Licensed Independent Social Worker. The facilitation and group collaboration skills Alfonso honed as a social worker help him as an accounting professional who builds consensus with his clients through shared values and goals.

Prior to becoming a CPA, Alfonso was a social worker in a variety of nonprofit settings including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, an alternative school for behaviorally challenged children, and a residential program for head-injured adults.

For 9 of his 17 years with Edelstein & Company, Alfonso was a partner and led our firm’s Nonprofit team. In January of 2017, he became the Director of Financial Services for GMA Foundations, an organization that assists private foundations with their operations and financial management. He returned to Edelstein in November 2019 to lead the firm’s Client Accounting Solutions team.

With a graduate certificate in executive coaching, Alfonso helped develop a mentoring program for Edelstein & Company’s professionals. He has also been a guest-lecturer and writer. Notably, he wrote A Grant Maker’s Guide to Understanding Nonprofit Financial Statements, Associated Grant Makers and published Executive Coaching as a Way to Improve Soft Skills for Accountants, Accounting Today.
